Caroline Sterckx is our director of riding programs and has been with San Pascual Stables since 2007. Her students range in age and experience. She teaches with a disciplined, yet lighthearted and positive manner, establishing a learning environment that is fun but also effective.
Caroline has been raised around horses since the day she was born. Her father owned the Country Riding Club in the center of Brussels, Belguim. She has been hooked since and horses remain as Caroline's first passion.
She started competing in Jumpers at the age of 8 and by the age of 12 had joined the national Belguim pony team. At 16 she moved to Nelson Pessoa's stables and joined the Junior National Belgian team. Caroline competed at all of the official European competitions including the European Championship in Berlin, Germany where she finished fifth. That same year she was second at the South American Championship in Monterrey, Mexico.
At 19 she continued to compete in the young riders circuit all over Europe. Caroline feels very lucky and honored to have trained with some of the top trainers in the world, Rodrigo and Nelson Pessoa, Jos Kumps, George Morris and Gilles Bertrand de Ballanda to name a few.
Marcia Williams has been at San Pascual Stables since 1977. She is an experienced horsewoman with many prestigous titles under her belt, including elections into both the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame and National Show Jumping Hall of Fame. Marcia "Mousie" was also honored with the USEF Living Legend Award in 2007 and the USEF Pegasus Medal of Honor in 2008. In her early riding career, Marcia won the Martini and Rossi AHSA Horsewoman of the Year in 1966 and CPHA Horsewoman of the Year in 1978.
Isabelle Ebner has been an instructor at San Pascual Stables since 2004. Isabelle's students have had many mentionable wins in the Hunter and Jumper rings including Reserve Champion in the Low Children's Jumpers at the Santa Barbara National and 3rd out of 67 competitors in the Interscholastic Equestrian League's Junior Varsity Jumpers this past fall of 2010. Her students have also won top ribbons in the Onandarka Medal Finals at Flintridge, Green Rider divisions at Del Mar and Low Children's Hunters at the Memorial Day Classic. Isabelle began riding as a young child under the instruction of her mother, renowned A-circuit Jumper rider Katherine Brown. As a young adult, Isabelle began training with Dressage trainer and judge Karen (Cheech) Barbour in addition to jumping with James Culetin. From 1988-1993 Isabelle competed in Dressage, Jumping and 3 Day Events throughout the northeast, notably taking blue ribbons in both the Meadowbrook Hounds Second Level Event in New York and the Amwell Valley Second Level Event in Middlebrook, NJ. Isabelle has also trained with 3 Day Eventing top rider Tad Coffin, Claiborne Bishop of Barracks Stud Farm and Muffin Barns of Gloria Fennel Farms, both in in Charlottesville, VA. In 1994 she took her horse Play It Again Sam to the Washington Nationals where she placed fourth in the Open Jumpers. Her training career began in 1991 in New York. Isabelle and her students travelled all throughout the Tri-State area competing at A rated shows. She then headed up the equestrian program at Camp Wicosuta in Bristol, New Hampshire. Here she was able to demonstrate her ability to head a team of actively competing riders aged 6 to 16.
Natalie Klibanow has been riding well over half of her life now. Her riding career began when she started taking lessons with Leslie Figge at Los Angeles Children's Riding Center. In middle school Natalie began working there and worked their world famous summer horse camp as well as teaching weekly lessons. In 2008 Natalie joined the San Pascual team as a trainer and has been committed to constant learning. What is most important to her as a trainer is sharing with her students what it means to be horse person, not just a rider.
